Late Bloomers vs. No Names

So last week i finally learned how to whistle. It took my an arduous 18 years of practice and concentration. I don't necessarily know how it came to me, either. It probably started in a hallway at school when I thought of that song that everyone "knows" but they don't really "know." The melody is universal, but the name is overlooked. So after numerous phone calls to internet gurus, i found the song that none of us know the answer to...except for moldy, crusty band symphony band conductors: Carmina Burana.

Now, that I finally learned how to whistle, I began to think about other "late bloomers" who "blossomed" later

their careers. Prime example: Donna Joe (DJ) Tanner from Full House. When Full House started in 1987,

DJ was an innocent little cute girl that little kids thought of her as their big sister.

But as time progressed, DJ got hotter. She was no longer that innocent little cute girl. She became the fantasy girl for thousands

of pubescent kids across the country. Here are the two looks. DJ is not the only "late bloomer" however.

Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, was once an overweight businessman whose company was not nearly as successful as it is now.

However, now Jobs is as skinny and sleek as his mac book pro.

But then there are the opposites. The burnouts, who had a successful start of their career but then became a "no-name."

Every youth in America during the roaring 90s watched Rugrats every day. Whether it was the

"Thanksgiving Chocolate Milk" episode or the acclaimed "Ear-Whiz" episode. Tommy was an icon. But then when

Nickelodeon decided they wanted more out of Tom, they created "All Grown Up." Tommy burnt out and his career would never be the same.

The same is true for SportsCenter anchor, Stuart Scott, who coined the term "Boo-yah!" in the late 90s. Scott was an idol. He was hilarious

on the "This is SportsCenter" ad campaigns and was a fan favorite for all highlights. However now Scott just gazes

at you awkwardly with the eery glass eye. He isn't the same anchor as he used to be. It now seems like he thinks he is boys with everyone he talks to.

For every late bloomer there will be a burnout. However, right now I'm just content with my whistling abilities.
